Picnic in the Park for residents in the Victoria Park RG1 area

Event Date: Sun 5 June 2022

Time: 12noon to 4pm

Picnic in the parkResidents’ association Victoria Park Community Group are inviting local residents in the Great Knollys Street/George Street area to join them on Sunday 5 June 2022 from 12noon to 4pm for a community picnic in the park to celebrate together the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Victoria Park Community Group aims to bring residents together for activities that reduce isolation and build community spirit and the Queen’s Jubilee is the perfect opportunity to achieve this as they host the event in the local park for everyone to join in.

One thing that the post-pandemic era has highlighted, is the feeling of isolation we have all experienced, and events like our Picnic in the Park are important for everyone to reconnect and feel part of something,’ says Chairperson and Trustee, Maria Trevis.

The event is organised by the VPCG trustees and other local resident volunteer members. The event promises children’s activities and yummy treats to share provided by the local Oxford Road Lifespring church. Connect with your community and get to know your neighbours by sharing in the royal celebrations!

Bring your own blanket or seat, and picnic. Feel free to bring something to share, dress to impress or come as you are. Everyone is welcome. Residents are encouraged ‘think green’ and keep plastic waste to a minimum and take their own litter home with them after the event to prevent bins overflowing in the area.

Treasurer, Mara Campbell and Maria Trevis will be on hand to meet people and encourage local residents join the group. If you live in the area and are interested in getting involved as a volunteer for the event please contact: vicpkcommunity@outlook.com.
